Celtic Cross spread: what each position means
The Celtic Cross is the classic 10-card tarot spread for complex questions. Six cards form the cross and describe the situation itself: the heart of the matter, the challenge, the foundation, the past, the possible and the near future. Four cards on the right form the staff: your position, your surroundings, your hopes and fears, and the outcome.
The first card is the heart of the matter. The second crosses it and shows what’s in the way. The foundation is the root of the situation, and the past is what’s fading. “Possible” is the best-case scenario, and the near future covers the next 2–3 months. In the staff, cards are read from the bottom up, from you to the outcome.
