2027 in astrology: eclipses, retrogrades and major transits

2027 at a glance

The year brings no sign changes for Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto: they stay where they were in 2026. The only “big” ingress is Jupiter from Leo into Virgo. The key dates:

The slow planets: who is in which sign

Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto set the “climate” of many years, while Jupiter sets the climate of the year. The meanings below are the general themes of these planets in the signs, according to astrological tradition; they do not predict events in the world.

Jupiter: Leo until July 26, then Virgo

Jupiter has been in Leo since June 30, 2026. On December 13, 2026 (27°01′ Leo) it turns retrograde and moves backward until April 13, 2027 (17°00′ Leo): the first months of the year are a time for reviewing projects, self-expression and generosity rather than expansion. Leo is the sign of creativity, attention, romance and children; Jupiter here is about the courage to show yourself. On July 26, 2027 Jupiter enters Virgo and stays until August 2028. Virgo is the sign of craft, order, habits and devotion to the work; Jupiter here is about growth through detail, skill and usefulness. You can read the shift as a change of question, from “what do I want to be seen for?” to “how do I want to work and care for others?”

Saturn: Aries all year

Saturn entered Aries on February 14, 2026, and through 2027 it travels from 8° to nearly 28° Aries. It is retrograde from August 9 (27°53′) to December 24 (21°01′). Aries is the sign of beginnings, initiative and independence; Saturn here is about responsibility for your own starts: not “start and drop,” but “start and follow through.”

Uranus: Gemini

Uranus entered Gemini on April 26, 2026. It turns direct on February 8, 2027 (1°41′ Gemini) and goes retrograde again on September 15 (9°58′). The theme is ideas, learning, ways of communicating and thinking, and how familiar channels of information change. Astrologers link Uranus with sudden turns in personal plans, but that is a theme, not a guarantee.

Neptune: Aries

Neptune entered Aries on January 26, 2026 and stays there all year: retrograde from July 9 (6°40′) to December 15. The theme is dreams of a new beginning, and the ideals and illusions around it: where the inspiration is real and where it is wishful thinking.

Pluto: Aquarius

Pluto is in Aquarius all year: retrograde from May 8 (7°11′) to October 18 (4°45′). The theme is a deep restructuring of communities, technology and group roles. In personal charts these are questions about where you belong to a group and where you want to find your own position.

Exact aspects between the slow planets (calculated)

• Uranus–Neptune, sextile: January 15 (about 2°) and June 7 (about 6°).
• Jupiter–Saturn, trine: April 3 (about 17° Leo and 17° Aries) and July 11 (about 27°).
• Uranus–Pluto, trine: June 15 (about 7° Gemini and Aquarius).
• Neptune–Pluto, sextile: June 29 (about 7° Aries and Aquarius) and October 17 (about 5°).
• Jupiter–Uranus, square: September 11 (about 10° Virgo and 10° Gemini).

Dates are accurate to the day. The Jupiter–Saturn trine is “expansion and discipline in the same key”: growth that rests on structure. The Jupiter–Uranus square is tension between Virgo’s steadiness and Gemini’s restlessness; in the fall it coincides with Uranus’s retrograde. Lunar nodes: no change in 2027

The North Node entered Aquarius on August 18, 2026, and through all of 2027 the nodes stay on the Aquarius–Leo axis (North Node in Aquarius, South Node in Leo). There is no node change in 2027: it comes on March 7, 2028, when the axis moves to Capricorn and Cancer. These are mean nodes, as in Oracul’s natal charts.

Astrology links the Aquarius–Leo axis with the theme of “the group versus the individual”: how to balance your own creative self (Leo) with the interests of a community (Aquarius). 2027 eclipses: dates and visibility

There are five eclipses in 2027: two solar and three lunar, and all the lunar ones are penumbral. Below are the dates, the signs and what can be seen.

1. February 615:59 UTC
   Annular solar eclipse, 17°38′ Aquarius

   The annular phase is visible from South America, across the Atlantic and in West Africa, and a partial eclipse is seen in Antarctica and nearby regions. It is not visible from most of the Northern Hemisphere.

2. February 20/2123:12 UTC on February 20
   Penumbral lunar eclipse, 1°59′ Virgo

   The maximum falls late on February 20 in UTC, so in much of Europe, Africa and Asia it is already February 21 local time. Penumbral eclipses are subtle: the Moon only dims slightly, and it is hard to notice without watching for it.

3. July 1816:02 UTC
   Penumbral lunar eclipse, 25°58′ Capricorn

   Also shallow and hard to spot with the naked eye. Astrologers give penumbral eclipses less weight than solar eclipses and total lunar eclipses.

4. August 210:06 UTC
   Total solar eclipse, 9°55′ Leo

   The path of totality crosses Spain, North Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Somalia; totality lasts up to about 6 minutes 23 seconds. A partial phase is visible across Europe. The eclipse falls in the same sign as the total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026 (20° Leo).

5. August 1707:13 UTC
   Penumbral lunar eclipse, 24°04′ Aquarius

   The third penumbral lunar eclipse of the year; like the earlier ones, it is barely noticeable.

How to use them: see which house of your chart the degrees 17°38′ Aquarius and 9°55′ Leo fall in, and whether natal planets sit nearby (within 2–3°). Astrologers link such eclipses with themes of “endings” and “beginnings”; they are read as markers of a period, not as events. Penumbral lunar eclipses are usually considered weak, and astrologers’ opinions differ, so it’s best not to base decisions on them.

2027 retrogrades: Mercury, Mars and Venus

Mercury goes retrograde three times: February 9 – March 3 (Pisces and Aquarius), June 10 – July 4 (Cancer and Gemini) and October 7 – 28 (Scorpio and Libra). The shadow periods, exact degrees and phase-by-phase advice are in “Mercury retrograde 2027”; the fall 2026 retrograde has its own article (October 24 – November 13).

Mars is retrograde from January 10 (10°26′ Virgo) to April 1 (20°56′ Leo)—about three months at the start of the year. Astrologers link a Mars retrograde with reviewing how you act and handle irritation; a practical approach is to avoid picking fights or launching big projects when you’re running on empty, and to finish what you’ve started.

Venus has no retrograde in 2027: the nearest is October 3 – November 14, 2026 (the breakdown), and the next is in May 2028. Seasons: equinoxes and solstices

The year’s four turning points are the Sun’s entry into the cardinal signs. Many astrologers cast “season charts” for them, which describe the general backdrop for the next three months.

Numerology: the year 11

In numerology, a year is added up digit by digit: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11. This is a master number, which is usually not reduced to 2. The universal year 2026 comes to 10, that is, a 1, while 2027 is 11: tradition links it with intuition, inspiration and heightened sensitivity, and also with tension between the ideal and the real. This is a general characterization, not a prediction.

How to read 2027 for yourself

A general forecast is only a weather map. Personal meaning appears when you lay it over your own natal chart. Four steps:

   Find your houses

   Work out which houses of your chart Leo, Virgo and Aries fall in. These are the “addresses” of the year’s three main themes: Jupiter (Leo → Virgo), Saturn (Aries) and the node (Aquarius → Leo). The table below gives a simplified calculation by Ascendant.

   Mark your planets in the zones

   Eclipses, retrogrades and ingresses act more strongly where natal planets or angles are close by (within 2–3°). Note the degrees: 17°38′ Aquarius, 9°55′ Leo, 27°53′ Aries (Saturn’s station) and others.

3. 3
   Connect with your personal cycles

   A solar return shows the year from one birthday to the next, and transits show weeks. The general forecast is the backdrop; your personal year is built from all three layers.

4. 4
   Turn it into a plan

   For each area of life, write down one question (“What should I rethink about my work in 2027?”). After a quarter, check what you marked actually happened.

Example: with a Scorpio Ascendant, Jupiter passes through the 10th house (career and reputation) until July 26 and then the 11th (friends and goals), while Saturn in Aries works through the 6th house (work and routine).
