Wheel of Fortune is the tenth card of the Major Arcana and one of the most “mobile” in the deck. Its central idea is the cycle. Whatever has risen will one day come down, and the other way around. The Wheel says the situation has shifted off dead center and events are starting to move faster than you expected.
This isn’t passive “luck” that falls from the sky. The card advises noticing the moment and making use of it: it appears when circumstances line up in your favor, but the win goes to whoever is ready to act. Each is reading a book: they are the four elements and four zodiac signs, watching over the course of the world.
Outside the wheel, a serpent rises, Typhon, a symbol of decline, while on the left Anubis descends, standing for intellect and rebirth. At the top of the wheel, a sphinx with a sword sits on a cloud: steadiness and balance at the very peak. The meaning of the picture is simple: the wheel turns, but the motion has an order, and you can always find your own point of support in it.
